Surrogacy is when a woman carries a child for someone else. Typically, she carries a child for a woman who is unable to carry a child for herself.

By using the in vitro fertilization process,   embryos are then transferred to the surrogate mother's uterus. The surrogate mother uses her uterus to carry a child which is not genetically related to her.
